If you are in search of a fabulous snake ring for an engagement or special anniversary gift, look no further.
Our early Victorian snake ring is layered with 5 antique rose diamonds in a graduated formation with the largest diamond in the middle and rubies for eyes. The contrast of the rose diamonds against the deep red ruby eyes is fetching.
This particular goldsmith clearly had an enduring sense of humor, as shown by the amazing details in this ring: the gold forked tongue, deeply etched scales, and clever curve of the tail which comes down at the gemstones and back up again in a final flourish. These details show an enduring creativity, even more unusual as 19th century goldsmiths likely never encountered a real snake.
Another detail we love: this is a true double banded snake ring as the bands are well articulated and do not blend together as a single band. This snake ring feels solid and substantial on the hand.
Snakes were a symbol of eternal love and friendship and were popularized by Queen Victoria during her reign in the 19th century.
The final model photo shows this ring on the ring finger. All rings on the final photo are available through First Dibs. The ring is a size 8 and can be resized.
