Late 18th century ruby and diamond cluster ring from the Iberian peninsula, with breathtaking cabochon ruby set to a gold octofoil mount set with diamonds. Spanish or Portuguese in origin. The cabochon ruby inside border and octofoil mount borders have a hand crimped edge, a detail which shows the intricate hand gold-work and the age of the ring. Small cushion cut diamonds are set within each of the 8 round gold clusters that radiate about the cabochon ruby. We love this ring for its distinctly soft round and oval shapes with no angles and straight lines in sight. The smooth round corundum ruby is bolted securely to the center of the band. This ring is in mint condition. the ring is size 5 ½ and sizeable.
