Impressive silver set Georgian diamond cluster ring mounted in an 18K ornamental gold band, dating to c. 1820. The closed back is pierced with 2 open hand cut squares, an unusual detail on the part of the goldsmith. The ring has 8 diamonds oriented around a center ruby with three additional diamonds placed symmetrically on either side. With its lovely hand carved gold work, seen on the ring back and throughout the band, this unusual Georgian cluster ring with its center ruby is a winner indeed. The natural oval cut ruby was mined in Thailand and is .60 total weight or 60 total points; the diamonds are .70 in total weight or 70 points. Rubies are 9 out of 10 on the Moh's hardness scale(second only to diamonds, which are 10 on the hardness scale) and are the birthstone for July. The ring is a size 7.5 and easily resizeable.
